KernSafe KernSafe iSCSI SAN is an advanced and powerful, full-featured software-only iSCSI Target that fully conforms to the latest iSCSI Standard 1.0 (former Draft 20). It is an IP SAN solution allowing you to quickly export existing storages such as disk images, VHD/VHDX files, physical disks, partitions, CD/DVD-ROMs, tapes or any other type of SCSI based devices and even a variety of popular CD/DVD images to the client machines. The software thus delivers immediate benefits, as it allows storage to be consolidated, virtualized and centrally managed. KernSafe iSCSI SAN also provides RAID-1 (mirror) feature enabling you to create two iSCSI devices for mirror backup. After KernSafe iSCSI SAN 5.0, KernSafe iSCSI SAN supports IPv6, Server Pool, and VHDX feature:

  • Can use IP address V6 as iSCSI data traffic, and also allow to use IPv6 as IP address authorization
  • Server Pool allows the iSCSI SAN software to listen on multiple IP addresses and ports at the same time
  • VHDX supports large capacity (without 2040GB limitation) disk image in thin provisioning.

After KernSafe iSCSI SAN V6.0, KernSafe iSCSI SAN brings Storage Pool feature, which is: 100% SDS can manage all disks and make them as pooled with the ability to create arbitrary, dynamic block volumes that can be utilized by any clients. These volumes are allowed to create unlimited and zero-copy snapshots. Storage Pool provides ways for building data in redundancy and scale-up, performance scaled by adding more devices. User can use All-Flash or Hybrid (SSD + HDD) disk arrays. Support three types of Volumes: RAW, Thin provisioning and Log Structured.
